Hey guys, it's your buddy Kabuki. Here with an update/announcement.
So, if you've been here long enough, you know about my hand; how it's been slowly eating away at my ability to work on music, that it's been getting progressively worse, and that it got to the point where my music had stopped completely. On top of that, the job I was working at left me completely wiped by the end of the day. I'd go home, eat or sometimes forget to, shower, and go to bed. There was none of me left to put into the music. The combination resulted in my output slowing and eventually stopping completely.
Someone very important to me got me to look at the state of my hand and my music and convinced me to go through with surgery in August, and it went off without a hitch. Since then I've been recovering and getting it back to the way it was before I ever needed it, and recovery time is now over.
So here's the news: I'm taking this year to focus on my music. Not something I squeeze in after work, because I already tried that and it didn't. Something had to give, and it wasn't going to be my music. This is the first time where things lined up to make that an actual possibility and that's when it hit me: it's now or never. Well, it's now. I'm taking the chance while it's here. The dream was never going to show up on its own; it's up to me to reach out and grab it.
I've also put together an actual recording setup: real mics, real interface, no recording on a $15 computer mic in front of a 480p webcam. That stuff is through. It's time to get serious. Speaking of which, first up: I've been working up my arrangement of To Zanarkand. It's one I've always been proud of, one I thought was leagues above the official arrangement, and one I want you all to be able to hear performed properly. It'll be the first thing recorded on the new setup, and I'll share it here the moment it's ready.
Thank you for sticking around through the quiet. A lot of you have been here for years, through some long gaps, and I don't take that lightly.
